Lines From Leadgate

The aim of this pictorial book is to look at, the birth, growth and demise of the railway passing through the village of Leadgate. For this purpose, the length of the track considered is some 3 miles and 900 yards from the Carr House Standing Engine (approximately the western end of Meadow Rise in Consett today) through Leadgate itself to the Annfield Plain Standing Engine (at the top of the Loud Bank)The time span is from late 1833 to the date of the Last Train to Consett, via Leadgate, on Saturday
