Leadgate Book Shop

Hi, everyone, I would like to make everyone aware, that all of the books created by our late pillar of society, Mr Bill Stockdale who we held in high esteem, and the committee of Leadgate And District Historical Society of which Bill was the President, passed over the mantle of “Leadgate And District Historical Society” to  Leadgatevillage.com

We now hold the copyright to these books and will endeavour to carry on with Bill’s good work by publishing more books in the series. You will find most of Bill’s books here in this Book Shop which are in digital format and can be bought and downloaded to your electronic device, whatever it may be. We also have some printed copies available for sale plus delivery. Please send enquiries to martinboyle137@gmail.com

The primary reason for this Leadgate Book Shop project is to raise funds for the Children and our Senior Citizens of our village and outlying districts and to inform the residents who want to be involved in this charitable enterprise, which is called “The Bill Stockdale Leadgate And District Historical Society”, the steps they need to take.

These funds will be used to enable us to, in time, bring back the “Children’s Seaside Trip” (which was well patronised when the club, in its hey-day, could afford it for its members, children) and a Senior Citizens Trip for those who have fallen on hard times. These are just two of many projects we will be aiding, god willing we get the support from the population of the district in our endeavours.

This will not be the only reason for us raising funds through the Leadgate Book Shop, we also want to give our support to the Four Churches within our village (Catholic, Church of England, Methodist and Salvation Army) to help raise necessary funds for them to help stay afloat throughout these hard times and dwindling congregations. There will be other projects no doubt, that will need support, all of which will come under our scrutiny.

I would like to see all of the residents getting involved with this project, may it be by helping with the fundraising or supporting the fundraising activities.

We have spoken to a couple of our Licensee’s within the village regarding fundraising nights within their establishments and the feedback has been 100%. We will endeavour to try and get more establishments and businesses etc.to help fund this worthy cause.

These fundraising nights will help them out, as well as our ability to raise funds. All of the other venues within the district will surely come on board as well.

We intend to keep all of the residents of our Leadgate Village and District up-to-date, so we have decided everything is to be open, transparent and above board. We intend to install a till register on our www.LeadgateVillage.com website which will show the total funds we receive after being processed.

We are creating a charitable organisation, namely ” The Bill Stockdale Leadgate And District Historical Society” set up to provide help and to raise money for those in need.

Any person interested in becoming a member/volunteer please email me at martinboyle137@gmail.com for more in-depth information. We will be posting information on our Facebook page to keep our residents (far and wide) up to date on what is happening.

Anyone with I.T knowledge regarding Website design who would like to get involved in that department would be truly welcomed.

Any donations will be gladly accepted.
